My Story: From Thru Hiker to Outdoor Artist
My name is Alina Drufovka, or just “Abstract” on the trail. I am a Colombian-American illustrator and painter based in Philly where I grew up. Art has always been a passion of mine, but it wasn’t until COVID-19 that life slowed down enough for me to pursue my art more seriously. Forced inside due to the pandemic and briefly stuck abroad in Costa Rica, my trail design series was born!
For the past 4 springs of my life I had always been gearing up and embarking on a new thru hike. The Appalachian Trail in 2015 & 2017, the Israel National Trail in 2018 and the Pacific Crest Trail in 2019.
After over 5,000 miles of life spent on trail (and endless existential crises about what to do with my time here on earth), I now transform all the nostalgia and beauty from my treks into surreal portal paintings back to the “trailverse!"
